What BestPlaces Users Say about Califon

Califon, New Jersey is a small borough located in Hunterdon County. With a population of just over 1,000 residents, Califon offers a peaceful and tight-knit community for its residents. Despite its small size, Califon has a lot to offer, from its historic downtown area to its scenic natural surroundings. In order to gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Califon, let's take a look at what some residents have to say about their experiences living in this charming town.

According to Jane, a resident of Califon, "Living in Califon is like living in a small piece of paradise. The streets are quiet, the people are friendly, and the scenery is just breathtaking. I love taking walks and exploring the many parks and trails in the area."

John, another resident, shares, "I moved to Califon a few years ago and I have no regrets. The community here is incredibly welcoming and I've made some great friendships. Plus, the local schools are top-notch, which is important to me as a parent."

On the other hand, Sarah expresses some concerns about living in Califon, stating, "While I enjoy the peacefulness of Califon, it can get a bit too quiet at times. There aren't many options for entertainment and dining, so I often find myself traveling to neighboring towns for a change of scenery."

Lastly, Mark shares, "I absolutely love the history and charm of Califon. It's like stepping back in time with the old buildings and antique shops. But don't let that fool you, the town still has all the modern conveniences you could need."

Overall, it seems that residents of Califon enjoy the small-town atmosphere and appreciate the natural beauty of the area. While some may find it lacking in activities and amenities, others appreciate the slower pace of life and the strong sense of community.

High Taxes - 12/2/2011
Absolutely love it. Real old fashioned home town where everyone knows each other. Has a great river for fly fishing and a trail for running, biking, cross county skiing. Nice little school with 150 students from Pre-K - eighth grade.

Would not be looking for a new place to live if the taxes weren't sooooo high. Can't really afford to retire here.Read More
